Chelsea have reportedly agreed on a £45 million fee to sign Raheem Sterling from Manchester City this summer.
According to English journalist Bobby Vincent, Chelsea are on the verge of completing a move for Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling and have agreed on a fee worth £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons. The Blues have had a long-standing interest in the England international, and their pursuit now seems to be coming to a conclusion.
Sterling has been one of the best forwards in England since joining Manchester City in the 2015 summer transfer window in a controversial from Liverpool. In seven seasons at the club, the 27-year-old has gone from strength to strength and has been a crucial component of the club’s domination in the Premier League.
In 337 matches for Manchester City across all competitions, Sterling scored 109 times and assisted 77 goals. He has fallen down the pecking order at the club recently and started just 23 league matches last season. The Englishman still managed to score 13 goals in the English top-flight and another three in the UEFA Champions League.
With a year remaining on his contract and competition increasing at Manchester City with the arrival of Erling Haaland, a summer exit seems to be the most logical move for all parties involved. Chelsea have been exploring the possibility of signing the 27-year-old and are now closer than ever to securing his signature. City, too, are ready to sell the England international to their Premier League rivals.
Some reports claimed that Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel personally contacted Sterling over a summer move to ward off interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Talks went on smoothly between the west Londoners and Manchester City, and now a £45 million base fee has been agreed upon.
Sterling might not be the only attacker to join Chelsea this summer. Romelu Lukaku has returned to Inter Milan on a season-long loan, and with Timo Werner’s future still unclear, the Blues need a number nine to join them.

Sterling won four Premier League titles, five EFL Cups and an FA Cup during his stint with Manchester City, which now seems to be coming to an end, with Chelsea set to sign him in a £45 million deal.
