Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made an approach for Atletico Madrid and Belgium star Yannick Carrasco.

According to Spanish publication AS, Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco and have approached the player to assess the possibility of a transfer.

Carrasco is currently in his second spell with Atletico Madrid. The 28-year-old spent over three years at the club between 2015 and January 2018 before moving to the Chinese Super League. He returned to the Wanda Metropolitano two years later in January 2020 and has since been a permanent fixture in Diego Simeone’s side.

Carrasco was one of Los Rojiblancos’ key performers as they won the league title in 2020/21, while he impressed in the previous campaign despite the team struggling as a whole. The Belgian international is contracted to the Colchoneros until the summer of 2024 but is disgruntled about his wages, as he earns much less than the likes of Jan Oblak, Koke and Antoine Griezmann.

But Atletico Madrid are yet to make any approach over a new contract for Carrasco, which has given way to speculation over his future this summer. Newcastle United have already shown an interest in the 28-year-old. And fellow Premier League clubs Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur have also emerged as suitors for Carrasco.

Chelsea are revamping their frontline this summer, with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and Christian Pulisic all linked with summer exits. Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling has emerged as a priority target for the Blues, but they might need to bring in more than one wide player in the summer.

Carrasco, who can play in the frontline or as a wing-back, could be a wise addition as Marcos Alonso is also likely to move on, which would leave Thomas Tuchel in search of a backup for Ben Chilwell.

As for Manchester United, they are on the lookout for quality signings to add more firepower to their attack after a dismal campaign last time out. Marcus Rashford has been woefully out of form, while Jadon Sancho is yet to get going. And with the likes of Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata moving on, there is room for attacking additions.

AFC Ajax’s Antony is being pursued with intent, but Carrasco could also be an option given his proven pedigree and experience. However, Chelsea and Manchester United would have to face competition from Tottenham Hotspur, who are also interested in Carrasco. The Lilywhites have already signed Ivan Perisic to boost their options at left wing-back, and Carrasco could be a replacement for Steven Bergwijn.

Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United have all ‘knocked on Carrasco’s doors’ to check the possibility of a transfer. The 28-year-old is protected by a release clause worth €60 million and is settled at Atletico Madrid. And with the club also not looking to part ways with him, a transfer seems unlikely. So, there is a possibility that his agents might be drumming up interest to get the forward a new contract.
