Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly interested in a summer move for Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi.

A recent report from MARCA has dropped an update on various targets for English clubs in the summer transfer window. The report covers one of the most exciting clubs in the Premier League, in the form of Brighton & Hove Albion, who are apparently interested in securing the services of Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea.

The Belgian forward is coming back to Chelsea after a loan spell at Besiktas, where he had netted 13 goals. Batshuayi initially enjoyed an excellent start to life in the Turkish Superlig, but his form dwindled as the season progressed, with Besiktas, as a whole, enduring a campaign to forget.

After spending a year in Istanbul, Batshuayi is set to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer. Part of the west London outfit since 2016, the forward has never really managed to make a mark in the Premier League, having racked up only 77 competitive appearances for Chelsea in six years.

Given the fact that Chelsea have recently undergone a takeover, one would expect the club to finally offload Batshuayi in the summer, despite the ongoing struggle of their current frontmen in Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku. The latter may even follow Batshuayi towards the exit door, amid interest from Inter Milan.

Brighton are among the clubs keeping close tabs on the situation of Batshuayi at Chelsea. The Seagulls are in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer as they look to find a reliable centre forward who can complement gifted creative talents such as Leandro Trossard.

Neal Maupay had been their joint top-scorer this past season. But it appears coach Graham Potter is looking to add a bit more bite in the goalscoring department by securing the services of Michy Batshuayi.

The Belgian international may not have proven himself at Chelsea. But he does offer valuable experience at the highest level of football and has a decent goalscoring record in most of the top leagues across Europe. Batshuayi’s ability as a poacher could go a long way in helping Brighton improve their productivity in the final third.

With his current contract at Chelsea expiring in 2023, Batshuayi might not cost a fortune either. It makes him a financially feasible target for Brighton as they look to improve their attacking ranks ahead of the new season and mount a challenge for the top-eight.
