Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid vying for Caglar Soyuncu

Aston Villa are eyeing a summer move for Leicester City star Caglar Soyuncu According to Fichajes, Premier League side Aston Villa are keen to land Aston Villa defender Caglar Soyuncu in the 2023 summer transfer window. The Turkish international is a key player under Brendan Rodgers and has made 125 appearances for the club across all competitions scoring three goals and assisting two more. A physically dominant player with pace to boot, he is a capable centre-back who can serve in a dependable rearguard. At 26, Soyuncu is still young and has the best years of his career ahead of him. His contract at the King Power Stadium expires next summer, meaning he is potentially set to become a free agent. Landing a player of his ability for free is excellent business and it comes as no surprise that Villa are keen. The Foxes do not appear too keen to renew Soyuncu's contract and unless something changes soon, he will be free to talk to foreign clubs regarding a pre-contract from January 1 2023. Villa, however, will have to wait until the summer to land their man. Apart from the Villains, other English clubs namely Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton are also keeping tabs on the 26-year-old. Unai Emery is an excellent coach who is known for building solid defensive lines. The Spaniard, is on paper, among the finest options to rekindle Soyuncu's flagging career. The Turkish ace's reputation has taken a beating in recent years and one could argue that the stock has fallen as well. Moving to a Villa side that is similarly trying to make up for lost ground could prove to be a win-win for both parties. While Villa went big last summer, an unfortunate injury to Diego Carlos robbed them of potentially their best centre-back. Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings have their moments but are severely lacking when it comes to consistency. Bringing in a new player could help shake things up and improve fortunes at the back. Landing a player of Soyuncu's profile for free is a risk worth taking. While he could turn into a dud, there is an equal possibility that he might develop into a solid player under the right guidance.
