Clement Lenglet is reportedly yet to take a decisive call on his future amid widespread speculation linking him with an exit from Camp Nou.

According to a report by Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Clement Lenglet’s future at Barcelona remains up in the air amid widespread speculation linking him with a departure from Camp Nou. The French international remains undecided on his next step, with the offers on his table deemed unsatisfactory.

Clement Lenglet joined Barcelona from Sevilla in July 2018 and made an immediate impression at Camp Nou. The 26-year-old went toe-to-toe with compatriot Samuel Umtiti to be Gerard Pique’s central defensive partner and eventually usurped him due to his injury woes.

But after starting his Barcelona spell strongly, Lenglet’s stock has steadily declined, particularly after Ronald Araujo’s advent last season. And following Eric Garcia’s return from Manchester City, Lenglet has become a bit-part player for Barcelona and has had to suffice with rare starts and appearances off the bench.

The French international has garnered only 997 minutes of game-time across 23 appearances in all competitions this term, falling to fourth in the pecking order for centre-backs at FC Barcelona. So it is hardly surprising that Lenglet is linked with a possible exit from Camp Nou in the summer transfer window.

Several clubs have shown an interest in Lenglet, with Sevilla keen on re-signing him ahead of the 2022/23 season. At the same time, various Premier League outfits are also looking at him as a central defensive solution, with Arsenal and Newcastle United already submitting enquiries over a summer move.

The report mentions that Lenglet has quite a few offers on his table. But the Frenchman is not satisfied with them and is yet to take a decisive call on the next step in his career. And while Lenglet is reportedly hopeful of staying put at FC Barcelona, the Catalan giants have deemed him surplus to requirements, along with Samuel Umtiti and Oscar Mingueza.

Barcelona’s stance over selling Lenglet is hardly surprising, considering they are on the verge of landing Andreas Christensen while also being in the market for a left-footed centre-back. That would give Xavi Hernandez more than enough central defensive resources, meaning Lenglet needs to make a definitive call on his future unless he wants to fall further down the pecking order.
