Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City hold talks with Cody Gakpo

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have reportedly held talks with in-demand PSV star Cody Gakpo, with the three clubs eyeing a summer swoop.

According to a report from Voetbal International, Cody Gakpo could be on the verge of a move away from PSV Eindhoven in the summer. The attacker has become one of the most in-demand players in the market following his breakthrough in the Eredivisie, and a move away from the city could on the horizon this summer.

Many expect Premier League to be the next destination for the impressive attacker, who has already held talks with Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool. Bayern Munich are involved in the race as well, with the Bavarians keen on finding a potential replacement for Serge Gnabry amid interest from Real Madrid.

Arsenal are also bracing themselves for a tough summer ahead. While their lack of depth in the goalscoring department has already been well-documented, the club may also need to sign a new winger amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Nicolas Pepe. The Ivorian is likely to be allowed to leave in the summer, thus accentuating the need for an explosive winger.

Manchester City are another club involved in the race to sign Gakpo. It appears the reigning English champions want to add more depth in their attacking department, especially with questions being asked over the future of Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez, while Gabriel Jesus is certain to leave the Etihad in the summer.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have enjoyed immense success with the signing of Luis Diaz in January. And with uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, Jurgen Klopp might be willing to take another punt in the market this summer, with Gakpo fitting the bill perfectly.

A left-winger by trade, Gakpo has been the best performer for PSV this term, racking up nine goals and 13 assists in just 22 league appearances. His contributions in the final third have been critical in helping his club keep up with Ajax in the Eredivisie title race.

In addition to his productivity upfront, Gakpo offers experience at the highest level of football, having featured in 130 matches for PSV Eindhoven. The 22-year-old has proven himself time and time again and is certainly prepared to take the next step in his career, so it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in the race to sign the talented Dutchman this summer.
