La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have reportedly submitted enquiries for Vasco da Gama’s 17-year-old Brazilian prodigy Andrey Santos.

Andrey Santos is a well-known name in Brazilian football due to his exploits at various age-group levels. The teenage wonderkid is a defensive midfielder by trade and has shown tremendous awareness, which helps him read the game superbly. The 17-year-old has also represented his nation at different age-group levels, attracting scouts from clubs across Europe.

The Brazilian prodigy has broken into the first-team setup at Vasco da Gama this season, although he has garnered only 38 minutes of game-time across three appearances. Santos’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Barcelona among the clubs closely monitoring him.

Deco has been in charge of scouting Andrey Santos, with Barcelona even submitting enquiries to Vasco da Gama to assess the 17-year-old’s future. But the Catalan club’s interest in Santos is in its nascent stage right now, with the Blaugrana only tracking his progress for now.

The eagerness to sign the 17-year-old Brazilian prodigy makes a world of sense, considering Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets is approaching the final phase of his career.
