Robert Lewandowski is reportedly pushing to join Barcelona in the summer transfer window, with his Bayern Munich stint nearing its end.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Robert Lewandowski is determined to end his spell with Bayern Munich and join Barcelona in the summer transfer window. The Catalan giants have thus been handed a major boost in pursuit of the Polish goal machine.

Robert Lewandowski is one of the greatest strikers ever to grace the game, scoring goals for fun throughout his ongoing twelve-year stint in the Bundesliga. While he was already a prolific forward during his spell with Borussia Dortmund, he has become a world-class centre-forward in the last eight years.

The 33-year-old has a staggering record of 45 goals and four assists in 38 appearances across all competitions thus far this season. But with Lewandowski’s Bayern Munich contract having a little over a year left to run out, the Bundesliga champions are sweating over his long-term future. And the Pole’s situation has captured the attention of Barcelona.

Barcelona will look to sign a prolific striker in the summer transfer window, as Martin Braithwaite will likely depart from Camp Nou to seek regular game-time. At the same time, Luuk de Jong will return to Sevilla for good once his loan deal with Barcelona expires at the end of the season.

The duo’s exit will leave Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the only natural striker at the disposal of Xavi Hernandez. Signing a striker is thus necessary for Barcelona, with Erling Haaland initially emerging as their priority target. But with Manchester City and Real Madrid the front-runners to land the Norwegian international, Lewandowski has emerged as a viable alternative.

Recent reports have suggested that the 33-year-old is keen on joining Barcelona, and the two parties have reportedly agreed to a deal in principle for the summer transfer window. And the Catalan giants have been handed another boost in pursuit of Lewandowski, who has told Bayern Munich that he wishes to join them.
