Real Madrid in contact with Barcelona target Paul Pogba

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is reportedly in contact with Real Madrid over a possible Bosman move in the summer.

According to a report by Sky Sports, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is in touch with various foreign clubs over making a Bosman move in the summer transfer window. The French international is a target for Barcelona and is in contact with Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.

Paul Pogba’s second coming at Manchester United has not been much to write home about, as he has not enjoyed much success over the last six years. On a personal level, the 29-year-old has blown hot and cold throughout his stint, pendulating between producing world-class performances and absolute duds.

The French international also started the ongoing campaign strongly but has been sub-par since returning from a hamstring injury. The player’s tally of one goal and nine assists in 23 appearances is still solid. But Manchester United will likely lose Pogba as a free agent in the summer transfer window, with Barcelona and Real Madrid among the clubs keen on signing him on a Bosman move.

The interest from Barcelona stems from the uncertainties surrounding the future of Riqui Puig, who has become surplus to requirements at Camp Nou. And Pogba could be the player to transform the Barcelona midfield completely, with a long-term core also consisting of Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, and Gavi making for an enticing prospect.

As for Real Madrid, the Merengues hold a long-standing interest in the Manchester United midfielder, having also pursued him before he returned to Old Trafford. But the upcoming transfer window could offer Real Marid the best chance to sign Pogba, who could be Luka Modric’s long-term successor.

Apart from Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are also in contact with Pogba, with two unnamed Premier League clubs also pursuing him. Recent reports have indicated that Aston Villa and Newcastle United are plotting an audacious Bosman move for the 29-year-old, while Chelsea and Manchester City have also been linked with him.

Pogba recently suggested he is open to joining PSG, and it is looking increasingly likely to leave Manchester United as a free agent. Where the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner ends up remains to be seen, with Barcelona and Real Madrid among the clubs hot on his trail.
