Antonio Rudiger demands €30 million signing-on fee amid Manchester United, Real Madrid interest

Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger, who is a target for Manchester United and Real Madrid, is reportedly demanding a signing-on fee of €30 million.

Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, as relayed by the Express, journalist Duncan Castles has claimed that Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has made his financial demands clear to his prospective suitors as he prepares to leave the club on a free transfer.

Rudiger is in the final few months of his contract at Chelsea and looks poised to depart from Stamford Bridge on a Bosman move. While Chelsea have been trying to extend his stay by offering a new deal, the German international has so far rejected the offers from the Blues. With the club now hit by the sanctions from the UK Government, talks over a new contract have been put on hold as well.

Rudiger’s situation has alerted some of the biggest clubs across the globe, with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain heavily linked with a move for the former AS Roma man.

Real Madrid are in the market for reinforcements at the back due to the lack of quality options in the central defensive department beyond the first-choice pairing of Eder Militao and David Alaba. As for PSG, they are on the lookout to add more quality to their squad as they look to build a team capable of conquering Europe.

Both Real Madrid and PSG have been in constant talks with Rudiger over a possible transfer. Meanwhile, Manchester United have also emerged as strong admirers of the 29-year-old as they look to resolve the defensive woes that have plagued their defence throughout this season. Harry Maguire, in particular, has been poor all season and could be shown the doors in the summer, opening up space for Rudiger.

Now, Duncan Castles has come up with an update on the financial package that Rudiger seems to be demanding from his suitors, claiming that the Chelsea star wants a signing-on fee of €30 million and a basic wage packet of €6 million per year, after taxes.

“The news we have today is the financial terms that currently Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is asking to sign a new contract at whichever of the elite European football clubs can be convinced to take him. He’s doing what a number of these well-known players, whose contracts are running down, is doing and offering his services to the top clubs.”

“Real Madrid have been one of the candidates, Manchester United, Juventus, Bayern Munich. The price that his representatives are asking for is €30 million signing on fee and a basic wage of at least €6 million after tax each year. This is for a player who turned 29 this month, he is in the best season of his Chelsea career, a centre point of Thomas Tuchel’s defence.”

Interestingly, reports from Italy recently claimed that Juventus had already reached an agreement with Rudiger over a transfer in the summer. But, considering their financial situation, it is hard to imagine that the Bianconeri will have the wherewithal to pull off this deal. Whether Manchester United or Real Madrid are willing to meet those demands remains to be seen.
