Fabian Ruiz reportedly has no interest in joining Arsenal in the summer transfer window, with Real Madrid and PSG his preferred destinations.
According to claims by reputed Italian journalist Raffaele Auriemma during his appearance on the Clun Napoli Night program on the teleclub Italia television station in Campania (h/t Area Napoli), Fabian Ruiz has no interest in joining Arsenal. The Spanish international instead prefers to move to Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.
Fabian Ruiz has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A since joining Napoli from Real Betis in July 2018. But after nearly four years in Italy, it looks like the 25-year-old is set to depart the country to embark on a new challenge in his career.
The 25-year-old has turned out 156 times for Napoli, chipping in with 21 goals and 14 assists in the process. But with a little over twelve months left on his contract, the Partenopei will have no option but to cash in on Ruiz, especially because he has no intention of signing a new contract. The prospect of snapping him up has alerted Real Madrid and Arsenal, among others.
The interest from Real Madrid stems from the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Dani Ceballos and Isco. The two Spanish midfielders are likely to depart the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window, prompting Real Madrid to delve into the market for a midfielder.
With Luka Modric and Toni Kroos approaching the final phase of their respective careers, signing someone like Ruiz will be a step in the right direction for Real Madrid. On the other hand, Arsenal will need to be wary of the situation surrounding Granit Xhaka, which brings Ruiz into the picture.
The former Arsenal captain is heavily linked with a possible move to AS Roma for a second summer transfer window in a row. With the Gunners likely to offload Mohamed Elneny ahead of the 2022/23 season, a central midfield reinforcement is the need of the hour for them.
But Arsenal will need to set sights on alternatives, as Ruiz has no intention of joining them. The Spanish international instead prefers moving to Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain. Recent reports have indeed suggested that the Napoli midfielder is keen on completing a transfer to either Real Madrid or Barcelona. The latest development will come as another boost for Real Madrid.
