La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly closely monitoring the progress of Yeremy Pino, who has a release clause worth €80 million in his Villarreal contract.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Yeremy Pino is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The Merengues are closely monitoring the Spanish attacking sensation’s display at fellow La Liga club Villarreal, with the player’s release clause worth €80 million.

Yeremy Pino has taken Spanish football by storm since breaking into the first-team setup at Villarreal. The 19-year-old spent his formative years with UD Las Palmas and CD Roda before joining the Yellow Submarine in July 2019. And he took no time to establish a foothold in the senior squad at Estadio de la Ceramica.

After enjoying a solid 2020/21 campaign, Yeremy has gone from strength to strength, turning out 33 times for Villarreal this season. In those outings, the teenage prodigy has chipped in with seven goals and four assists, with four of his strikes coming in the recent La Liga game against Espanyol. Yeremy’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid tracking his progress.

Real Madrid had been interested in signing Yeremy last summer before the Spanish attacking sensation chose to stay put at Villarreal. The 19-year-old subsequently signed a bumper new contract with the Yellow Submarine, with his release clause bumped from €35 million to €80 million following the renewal.

The continued interest in Yeremy stems from the uncertainties surrounding the futures of Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard. While Bale is set to leave Real Madrid as a free agent in the summer transfer window, Hazard could rejoin Chelsea on loan after a forgettable 2021/22 campaign.

Yeremy is thus a viable target for Real Madrid despite their interest in Kylian Mbappe, who is reportedly edging closer to joining Los Blancos after rejecting Paris Saint-Germain’s latest contract renewal proposal. But shelling out €80 million in the summer transfer window could be a tall order for Real Madrid.

The Merengues are already bracing themselves for a busy and expensive window, wherein they will also target Erling Haaland. In addition, with Yeremy only recently committing his future to Villarreal, prising him away from Estadio de la Ceramica might not be possible for Real Madrid. But they will keep monitoring the teenage prodigy’s performances as the season wears on.
