Inter Miami interested in Sergio Busquets

Barcelona Sergio Busquets is reportedly keen on reuniting with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami, with the MLS club looking to sign him soon.

According to reputed Spanish journalist Xavi Campos in his appearance on Onze, Sergio Busquets is the subject of interest from Inter Miami. The Barcelona captain is keen on reuniting with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi at the Major League Soccer Club in due course.

Sergio Busquets spent his formative years with several clubs before finally finding his mark at FC Barcelona nearly two decades ago. The veteran midfielder broke into the Barcelona first-team squad in 2008 and has since been widely regarded as one of the best holding midfielders to grace the game.

To date, the 33-year-old has made 663 appearances for Barcelona, winning 30 titles with the Catalan club over the years. But recent years have shown that age is catching up with Busquets, although he has been resurgent since Xavi Hernandez took charge of the first-team setup at Camp Nou.

Busquets was recently in fine touch when Barcelona beat Napoli to reach the UEFA Europa League Round of 16. But with his Barcelona contract running out in a little under 18 months, the veteran midfielder’s future is the subject of speculation, with MLS upstart Inter Miami showing an interest in him.

The MLS giants have been linked with several high profile players since their inception, with Gonzalo Higuain their first major foreign star. But with the Argentine striker reaching the end of his glittering career, several other attacking stars have been linked with Inter Miami, including Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Busquets is the latest star player to emerge on Inter Miami’s radar, with the MLS outfit looking to reunite him with Messi and Suarez. The Barcelona captain himself is keen on playing alongside his two former teammates again, making a move to Inter Miami a likely outcome.

Barcelona might not stand in Busquets’s way either, considering they have recently been linked with several midfielders, including Ryan Gravenberch. But Busquets is likely to stay put at Camp Nou for another season before making a decision on his future in 2023, when he could reunite with Messi and Suarez in the MLS.
