La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up the prospect of signing 17-year-old Brazilian wonderkid Angelo Gabriel from Santos.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Angelo Gabriel is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The 17-year-old Santos wonderkid has also been linked with several other European bigwigs and could soon arrive in the continent.

Angelo Gabriel is widely regarded as one of the best young prospects in Brazil, progressing rapidly since joining Santos FC in 2015. The Brazilian prodigy first burst onto the limelight when he broke into Peixe’s first-team setup in October 2020, aged 15.

Since then, the 17-year-old has come leaps and bounds, also breaking records along the way, having become the youngest player ever to score in a Libertadores match last year. To date, the 17-year-old has made 58 appearances for Santos. And while his tally of one goal and two assists might not be too impressive, Angelo has still made enough of an impression to capture the attention of Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants have signed many promising talents from Brazil over the years, with their most recent forays in the country yielding them Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo Goes. Real Madrid’s continuous forays into the Brazilian market continues to bring several prodigies on their radar, with Angelo Gabriel the latest to be linked with them.

In addition to the 17-year-old wonderkid, other whizkids like Weslley Patati, Gabriel Pirani and Endrick have also been heavily linked with Real Madrid. And Gabriel could soon join Real Madrid if the Merengues have their way, beating several other European bigwigs to secure his signature.

At a time when Gareth Bale is primed to leave Real Madrid as a free agent and Eden Hazard faces an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos could do with a young new attacker. So while they are heavily linked with Kylian Mbappe, Angelo Gabriel’s addition will unlikely do Real Madrid much harm.

The 17-year-old Brazilian wonderkid’s current Santos deal runs until June 2024, meaning Peixe will likely charge a premium to part with him. For now, Angelo Gabriel has emerged as a possible target for the summer transfer window, and it remains to be seen if Real Madrid will firm up their interest in him.
