Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea are interested in West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus, but they might be priced out a move.
Mohammed Kudus made the move to the Premier League in the summer of 2023. The West Ham United attacker has made quite a name for himself with his consistent performances, and there are quite a few top clubs that are interested in his signature.
But the Hammers’ former senior scout Mick Brown has suggested that interested clubs will be priced out of a move because of the high asking price set by the East London club.
Mick Brown’s take on Kudus’ future
While speaking to Football Insider, Brown said, “I know other clubs are interested and have been watching him. But I’ve seen an £85million release clause mentioned, I’ve heard that could put some of the interested clubs off of a move.
“It would have to be a situation where he wants to leave the club, but then you look around and you can’t see anybody who’s going to pay £85million for him. Man City have got enough wide players already, Liverpool won’t be able to afford it, where would he fit in the Arsenal team? Where does he go in the Chelsea team?
“Madueke is doing very well and improving, Cole Palmer is one of the best players in the league at the moment, they’ve got another load of wide players who don’t get near the team. You never know with Chelsea, though. We’ll see what happens with them.
“I’ve been told there are a lot of teams who want to sign Kudus from West Ham, and there are only three or four clubs who could maybe afford that price. But then you look at what they’ve already got and they don’t need him.”
Kudus’s incredible rise at West Ham
Mohammed Kudus had an impressive debut season at West Ham United. He scored 18 goals and bagged seven assists in his 48 outings across competitions. Apart from featuring as a number ten, he played on both flanks as well as a number nine when needed.
His consistent performances put him on the radar of teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool amongst others. While there is no shortage of interest in the 24-year-old attacking sensation’s services, his contract with the Hammers runs until the summer of 2028. and he will cost around £85 million.
Mohammed Kudus priced out of West Ham exit?
Brown believes not many interested clubs can afford to pay that big a fee and those who can, already have a lot of options out wide on the flanks. Chelsea are interested in Kudus but they have Noni Madueke and Cole Palmer who are in sensational form and there several wingers fighting for a place in the starting XI.
Even Arsenal are well stocked on the flanks, and they might not want to break the bank for someone like Kudus when their priority is to sign a new number nine. With Mohamed Salah’s long-term future uncertain, Liverpool can surely consider making a move for him. But they cannot afford to meet the asking price.
Brown, who left the Premier League club in the summer alongside, David Moyes believes there is plenty of interest in the 24-year-old but he does not see any club triggering his release. The only way out is if the player pushes to leave and the Hammers agree to sell for a cut-price fee.
