Vitor Roque has insisted that he is ready to join Barcelona while reaffirming that he remains focused on shining for Athletico Paranaense.

In an interview with SPORT, Vitor Roque spoke about various topics. The Brazilian wonderkid addressed widespread speculation surrounding his future. And he insisted that he is ready to make his mark for the Blaugrana if he moves to Spotify Camp Nou in the near future.

Responding to a question on his links with Barcelona and if he feels he is up to the challenge, Vitor Roque said, “Yes of course. I work for this. The competitions I played last year, the Libertadores and the Brasileirao, will help me to be well prepared when I go to Europe.”

“I am very happy to be 18 years old, which now allows me to play abroad. My goal is to continue working with humility, because with faith in God everything will turn out well. Look, I try to stay focused on day to day and give my best at Athletico. I am sure that, doing well here, going to Europe will be a consequence.”

Asked how he feels about the Barcelona links, he said, “It is a great motivation. It is very important and I see it as a reason to want to aspire to more, to want to work more, which is what I do.” He also added that he dreams of joining Barcelona when he moves to Europe.

Vitor Roque is one of the most highly sought-after prospects in South America. The 18-year-old turned 18 this week, meaning he can now move abroad as per FIFA rules. And Barcelona might be his next destination, considering widespread rumours heavily linking him with the Blaugrana.

The player himself is reportedly keen on joining Barcelona and prioritising moving to Spotify Camp Nou. And with Vitor Roque revealing his Barcelona dream, a summer move might be on the cards. That is despite a gamut of other European bigwigs being keen on signing the 18-year-old.

With Robert Lewandowski well into his thirties, Vitor Roque can be the Polish striker’s long-term successor. And the Brazilian wonderkid has insisted that he is excited to learn the ropes from the 34-year-old. It will be interesting to see if a summer move sees the light of day.
