Tottenham icon Tim Sherwood has urged Chelsea to appoint Roberto De Zerbi as their next manager after calling him the real deal.
Chelsea currently find themselves in the bottom half of the Premier League table, and they will need to bring in a quality long-term replacement for the British manager. Chelsea have currently put Frank Lampard in charge until the end of the season, and they are looking for permanent options in the coming months. Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has now urged them to appoint Roberto De Zerbi as a replacement for Graham Potter.
He said (h/t HITC), “That man in your picture there, I don’t know what Chelsea are waiting for. I don’t want to sell Brighton’s manager again. The only reason why Chelsea might not go for him is that Graham Potter has let them down. But this guy is the real deal. He is the real deal manager. They got £21 million for the other manager and he wasn’t any good.”
The Italian manager replaced Potter at the AMEX Stadium, and it remains to be seen whether he is ready to replace him at Stamford Bridge as well. De Zerbi has done an exceptional job at Brighton so far, and the Seagulls are currently pushing for European qualification. His high-intensity attacking football and in-game management have impressed one and all so far.
The manager has been linked with other Premier League clubs like Tottenham Hotspur as well. The opportunity to manage a club like Chelsea is likely to be a tempting proposition for the 43-year-old, and he could be open to the job at the end of the season. It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few months.
For the first time in the club's 122-year history, Brighton have won a Football League game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

There is no doubt that Chelsea have a top-class squad at their disposal, and the new owners have signed multiple players over the last couple of windows to strengthen the squad. They need to bring in a manager who will get the best out of these players and help Chelsea compete for the major trophies once again.
The 43-year-old Brighton manager has proven his quality in the Premier League so far, and he certainly deserves to take the next step in his career. Managing a club like Chelsea would allow him to showcase his ability at a higher level, and he would get to compete for the league title as well. Chelsea have been linked with managers like Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique as well.

Nagelsmann was recently sacked by Bayern Munich, and the 35-year-old is out of a job. On the other hand, Enrique left his post as the manager of the Spanish national team following a disappointing World Cup campaign. The two managers have proven themselves at a high level, and it remains to be seen who comes in to replace Graham Potter at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
