“The very short answer, yes,” said Frank before adding, “He is a Brentford player, he is here. Clearly we miss a few offensive players, I can’t see why we would sell him and I would love to have him for a longer time. It needs to be an unbelievable price. So he will stay here.”
Arsenal need to sign a quality finisher, and Toney is a top target. He would be an upgrade on Gabriel Jesus, who has struggled to score goals consistently. However, Arsenal spent a substantial amount of money on new signings during the summer transfer window, and they will have to comply with the Financial Fair Play regulations.
They are unlikely to be able to afford the Brentford striker without getting rid of some of their players first. Chelsea are in a similar position, and they have spent freely in the recent windows. They will need to sell some players in order to fund a move for the 27-year-old striker. Meanwhile, Toney is likely to be attracted to the idea of playing for Arsenal over Chelsea.
