Thierry Henry pinpoints big Arsenal change to win the Premier League title next season

Thierry Henry has had his say on what Arsenal need to change ahead of next season to win the Premier League title.

Arsenal were involved in the Premier League title race until the final day of the season. But their pursuit of the league title ended in disappointment as Manchester City won 3-1 at home against West Ham United to clinch another title.

The Gunners did get the much-needed win in the final fixture of the season against Everton thanks to a late strike from Kai Havertz. But they finished two points behind Pep Guardiola’s team. Despite all the efforts that Mikel Arteta’s team have put in over the past two seasons to be in contention for the league title, they have not been able to succeed.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has pointed out a major change that needs to happen at the North London club for them to finally lift the title next season. The former Barcelona star while speaking on Premier League Productions insisted that the focus should not only be on beating Manchester City.

Henry on what Arsenal can do differently next season

Henry said via TBR Football, “They beat City this year, they didn’t concede a goal against City, but we lost twice against Villa. West Ham at home, but Villa, we lost 1-0 there, we lost 2-0 at home. It’s not only beating City that will give you the title.”

“We’re not going to collapse hopefully, because when a team tries to follow City for more than two years they collapsed. What [Mikel Arteta] did is second to none in terms of bringing the team back and having the fans believing, now consistency is key.”

Arsenal have made significant progress under the guidance of Mikel Arteta. He has transformed them into one of the best teams in Europe. They have been competing for major titles over the last two seasons. While things have not gone according to plan yet, they are on the right track and it is about consistency from here.

Henry is hopeful that the team will not end up collapsing having tried to compete with a team like City for the last two years. But, the former Barcelona striker feels they need to change how they look at things. The Gunners can keep focusing on only beating Guardiola’s team, and they need to take care of other teams around them.

The North Londoners cannot afford to lose too many games during a season because a team like City don’t really drop many points. While Arsenal did beat Manchester City this year and did not even concede against them they lost twice to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa and even suffered a defeat at the hands of West Ham at home. These defeats proved to be the difference between the City and Arsenal who are separated by just two points after the end of the season.
