Premier League giants Chelsea are going through a difficult run of form and they crashed to a defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend.

The Blues are currently 11th in the league table and they are likely to miss out on UEFA Champions League qualification once again. Defender Thiago Silva’s wife has now called for change at the London club before it is too late.

She wrote on her social media account (h/t Independent): “It’s time to change. If you wait any longer it will be too late.”

While there was no clear indication of the change she was demanding, it is assumed that the defender’s wife is calling for a managerial change at Chelsea. It will be interesting to see if the club hierarchy decides to part ways with Mauricio Pochettino after a series of disappointing performances.

The Argentine manager was backed significantly during the summer transfer window and Chelsea signed a number of quality players for a substantial amount of money. They were expected to bounce back strongly after a disappointing season last year and push for trophies this time around.

Chelsea finished in the mid-table positions last year as well. After a massive summer outlay, few would have expected them to be in this position once again. It remains to be seen whether Pochettino can turn things around quickly.

A club of Chelsea’s stature cannot afford to keep dropping points and finish in the mid-table positions. Despite their performances, they have a quality squad at their disposal, and one has to wonder whether another manager would have extracted more from the current squad.

Pochettino has proven himself in the Premier League over the years and there is no doubt that he is a quality manager. However, things have not gone according to plan for him at Stamford Bridge. Even if Chelsea do not make drastic changes now, it is highly likely that they could bring in a new manager at the end of the season.

For now, the players will be expected to step up and bounce back strongly. Chelsea could still finish in a respectable position and push for Europa League qualification.
