The Mikel Arteta Pull – Dani Ceballos set to rejoin Arsenal on loan [Reactions]

Dani Ceballos is reportedly set to join Arsenal on another season-loan loan deal from Real Madrid this summer. The Mikel Arteta pull in full effect.

According to reliable Spanish journalist Jose Luis Sanchez, Arsenal are on the verge of signing Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan spell for a second successive summer transfer window. The Spanish international has been given the green light from Real Madrid for a temporary move.

Ceballos spent the entirety of the 2019/20 season with Arsenal as well, having struggled to become a regular feature in the first-team setup at Real Madrid in the previous two seasons. At Arsenal, the 24-year-old endured an inconsistent first half of the season, when the Gunners were marred by a lot of instability.

However, post the appointment of Mikel Arteta as their manager, Ceballos improved leaps and bounds, forging a strong partnership with Granit Xhaka in the middle of the park. His exploits had prompted Arsenal to approach Real Madrid for a permanent move, but a €50 million valuation was proving to be problematic.

Arsenal, though, have had the need to sign a midfielder or two in the wake of widespread rumours linking both Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi with a summer departure. Should the duo leave, Arteta will be left with Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Joe Willock as his only midfield options. But, the Arsenal boss can now heave a sigh of relief, with Ceballos set to return to the Emirates.

According to Sanchez, Arsenal are in advanced talks with Real Madrid and expected to reach an agreement over a loan deal soon. Further, Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Ceballos turned down three other clubs as he had his heart set on returning to Arsenal.

That has to be a testament to Mikel Arteta and his project at the Emirates, with the Spaniard making a lot of waves in his short time in-charge of the north London club. With Ceballos set to return, the Arsenal boss can also boast of a more stable midfield unit, which ought to boost the Gunners’ cause for the forthcoming season. Truly exciting times for Arsenal fans.
