Manchester United inched a step closer to defending their Carabao Cup title as they reached the quarterfinals with a comfortable 2-0 win over Swansea City on Tuesday.

Jesse Lingard was the twin-goal hero for the visitors as he found the back of the net either side of half-time to guide his side to Last Eight stage. The 24-year-old was first sent clean through on goal by a clever Marcus Rashford back-heel flick, while the second was a superb headed finish from Matteo Darmian’s cross.

And the England international was hailed for his fantastic display by Manchester United fans as the Red Devils progressed to the quarterfinals.

Fans also lauded Axel Tuanzebe and Scott McTominay, both of whom impressed in their first starts of the season.

But, there are concerns mounting over Luke Shaw’s future at Manchester United after the young defender only managed a cameo on Tuesday.
