Brazilian forward Savinho has now revealed that he rejected the opportunity to join Arsenal before moving to French club Troyes.

In an interview with the Spanish publication SPORT, 19-year-old Brazilian prodigy Savinho revealed that Arsenal tried to sign him in the past. But he rejected the North London club to move to Troyes as he wants to represent Manchester City soon.

He said, “Yes. Arsenal wanted me and also the Brazilian Bragantino. Yes. I knew that Troyes was the City group and I thought that by working I could one day reach Manchester City. Of course, I will have to do very well here in Girona.”

The 19-year-old joined Troyes for a fee of around €6.5 million in June 2022. The French club is owned by City Football Group, and the player will hope to play for the Premier League giants in the future.

The Brazilian wonderkid is highly rated in South America, and he has a bright future ahead of him. The player has had loan spells at PSV Eindhoven and Girona (where he currently plays).

The Brazilian youth international will be hoping to continue his development with regular football at Girona this season, and it remains to be seen whether he can force his way into the senior national team as well.

There is no doubt that he has the ability to play for a top club in the future. But he will need to continue his development with regular football first. Arsenal have a pool of talented young players at the club, and they will certainly be disappointed to have missed out on the 19-year-old Brazilian.

The talented Brazilian forward can operate as a winger as well as a striker. His versatility will be an added bonus for Girona this season. It remains to be seen whether the Spanish outfit are ready to give him ample opportunities to showcase his qualities this season. Savinho needs opportunities to continue his growth as a footballer and he cannot afford to sit on the bench at Girona this season.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Meanwhile, Arsenal could certainly use a versatile forward like him right now. Mikel Arteta has not been able to rotate players like Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka due to the lack of options. THey have recently shown interest in Antonio Nusa.

He is no where near the calibre at Arsenal youth academy let alone our bench warmers. I pray he plays for Man City to give Arsenal a better chance of winning the league. Snubbing Arsenal, more like the other way around.
