Argentine international midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has been linked with a move away from Brighton and Hove Albion this summer.

Manager Roberto de Zerbi has now confirmed (h/t 90 Min) that the 24-year-old will leave the club this summer and the development will come as a major boost for Liverpool who are looking to secure his services.

“Yes, I think it can be the last game for Alexis and Moises Caicedo. I am really sorry because they are two great people and two great players but the policy of Brighton is like this.

“It is right that they can leave, they can play at a higher level. People believe Alexis is a fantastic player, but as a man, he is better than the player.”

Mac Allister has established himself as one of the most promising midfield talents in the league and he should prove to be a quality acquisition for Liverpool if they can secure his signature.

The 24-year-old helped Brighton secure European qualification this season scoring 12 goals across all competitions. He also helped his country Argentina win the World Cup title in Qatar towards the end of 2022.

The technically gifted central midfielder could prove to be an upgrade on players like Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and James Milner next season. Both players are set to move on as free agents and Liverpool need to bring in multiple midfield signings this summer.

The midfield has been Liverpool’s undoing this year and it has been a disappointing campaign for them. The Reds have missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification and they will be desperate to bounce back strongly.

Signing quality players like Mac Allister will certainly help them get back to their best.

The 24-year-old is still quite young and he is likely to improve with coaching and experience. Working with a world-class manager like Jurgen Klopp could help him improve further and develop into a world-class midfielder in the coming years.

The 24-year-old will add creativity, control and pressing ability to the Liverpool midfield. His style of play makes him a good fit for clubs high intensity attacking football and it remains to be seen whether he can make an immediate impact at Anfield next season.

The Argentine midfielder has already won the biggest prize in international football and he will be hoping to win trophies at the club level now. Liverpool have won the league title and the Champions League in recent years and the 24-year-old will be hoping to win major trophies at Anfield if the transfer goes through in the coming weeks.
