Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabeu on matchday 2 of the 2019-20 La Liga on Saturday evening.

Real Madrid dominated the proceedings against the visitors in the first half, but were wasteful in front of goal as Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Karim Benzema all spurned great opportunities to put their team in front. The second half also followed a similar script as Los Blancos failed to find the clinical touch in the final third.

With under ten minutes left, Real Madrid finally managed to find a breakthrough, as Benzema fired home a sublime finish. The lead lasted for only five minutes though, as Sergi Guardiola leveled things up for the visitors in the 88th minute after being sent through by Oscar Plano to steal a point from under the noses of their hosts.

It was a lacklustre display from Real Madrid as they failed to make the most of the chances they created and here’s how the fans reacted to their performance on the day.

A large number of fans were critical of Thibaut Courtois, as he was easily beaten by Sergi Guardiola for the equalizer with many demanding Keylor Navas to be reinstated between the sticks by the manager.
