Liverpool rival Arsenal, Manchester United in Frenkie de Jong chase

Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United are keen on signing Barcelona midfield mainstay Frenkie de Jong this summer.

A report from Fichajes has claimed that Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United are keen on signing Frenkie de Jong. Barcelona might cash in on the 26-year-old midfield mainstay if he does not sign a new contract with them.

Barcelona signed Frenkie de Jong from Ajax in a €75 million half a decade ago. And he has been a world-class performer for the Blaugrana in the last five years. Liverpool need to bring in a quality central midfielder who can control the tempo of the game and recycle possession for them. They are expected to part ways with Thiago Alcantara this summer.

The Spanish midfielder will be out of contract, and Liverpool are unlikely to offer him a contract renewal. The Reds will need to replace him adequately, and de Jong should prove to be a quality acquisition. The Dutchman has proven his quality in La Liga and he has the physical and technical attributes to do well in the Premier League as well.

However, Liverpool have to improve the other areas of their squad as well, and it remains to be seen whether they can arrange the funds for his transfer. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Barcelona mainstay is also a target for Arsenal and Manchester United.

Arsenal, Manchester United want Frenkie de Jong

Arsenal need to bring a central midfielder this summer. Thomas Partey has been linked a move away from the club in recent months, while Jorginho is in his twilight years. The Gunners must look to bring a quality partner for Declan Rice, and the Netherlands international certainly fits the profile.

Arsenal spent a club record fee on Rice last summer, and it will be interesting to see if they are willing to break the bank once again for the Barcelona midfielder. Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Barcelona star for years. They were keen on signing him last summer as well, but the player opted to continue in Spain. It will be interesting to see if they can convince him to move to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

It is no secret that Manchester United need a quality central midfielder, and the 26-year-old could transform them in the middle of the park. The Barcelona mainstay has played under Erik ten Hag during the time together at Ajax, and he should be able to settle in quickly and make an immediate impact at Old Trafford.
