Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Bernardo Silva likes Barcelona and indicated that a late move to Camp Nou might not be possible.

During a recent conversation with the media, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Pep Guardiola confirmed that Bernardo Silva is interested in joining Barcelona. But the Manchester City manager added that the Premier League champions need to agree on a deal with Barcelona to sell the Portuguese playmaker, which might not be possible.

Bernardo Silva is enjoying the best phase of his career after a clinical 2021/22 campaign with Manchester City, delivering the Premier League title with his top-notch performances. But the 28-year-old playmaker wants to embark on a new adventure in the summer transfer window, with Barcelona his preferred destination.

The Catalan giants have been hatching different ploys to sign the Portuguese international but to no avail. Silva himself has suggested that he is happy to remain at Manchester City beyond the summer transfer window, even though he privately longs to complete the move to Barcelona.

Recent reports have claimed that Silva is set to remain at Manchester City, thus dealing Barcelona a bitter blow in his pursuit. But now, former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola might have handed the Blaugrana a boost, confirming Silva’s desire to move to Camp Nou this summer.

The Manchester City boss said, “We want Bernardo Silva with us but I don’t want anyone to be unhappy here. The first thing would be for the two clubs to come to an agreement – then of course, I want him in my team. It’s true that Bernardo Silva really likes FC Barcelona.”

“Who doesn’t like Bernardo Silva? And De Bruyne or Haaland… Bernardo’s a key player for City, who makes a difference. I like him, because there are very few like him… but that depends on Manchester City.”

Even though Guardiola’s comments might raise optimism at Camp Nou, the Manchester City board members have sung a different tune, categorically ruling out a Barcelona move for Silva. So the 28-year-old playmaker is now set to remain with the Premier League champions, whose asking price might have ruled Barcelona out of the race anyway.
