Patrick Dorgu, a target for Liverpool and Barcelona, has revealed that he dreams of moving to Chelsea in the near future.
Speaking to Bold.DK, 19-year-old Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu has revealed Chelsea as his dream destination. The teenage sensation has been linked with clubs like Liverpool and Barcelona as well.
Dorgu said, “My dream is of course the Premier League, but right now I am also in a really good place in my career. If it were to be somewhere in Italy, it wouldn’t be too bad either.” Then, on his dream club, he added, “Yes, it’s Chelsea”.
The talented young defender is coveted highly across Europe, and he has a big future ahead of him. He could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for all three clubs, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
The fact that he dreams of a move to Chelsea will certainly come as a major boost for the West London club, and it remains to be seen whether his comments encourage them to make a move for him in the coming months. Chelsea could certainly use more quality and depth in the left-back department.
Marc Cucurella has been quite underwhelming since the big-money move from Brighton & Hove Albion, while Ian Maatsen faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge. Ben Chilwell is the only reliable left-back at Chelsea. But his injury record has been a cause for concern for the West London club.
Signing another left-back would be a wise decision for the Blues, and the 19-year-old would be a solid, long-term investment. Meanwhile, Liverpool need to add more quality and depth in their defensive unit as well. Andrew Robertson has been an exceptional servant for Liverpool.
But the Reds need to bring in an alternative, and the 19-year-old would be a quality long-term acquisition for them. Jurgen Klopp could help the defender improve and fulfil his tremendous potential in the coming seasons. As far as Barcelona are concerned, Dorgu could be the ideal long-term replacement for Jordi Alba.
Barcelona signed Marcos Alonso as a stopgap option, but they need to start planning for the future. The 19-year-old has the potential to succeed at the highest level, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up. Despite his preference towards Chelsea, the opportunity to join clubs like Liverpool and Barcelona can be hard to turn down as well.
