Arsenal began their season with an uncharacteristic away win over Newcastle United, kept a clean sheet and Twitter reacted to this victory.

Last season Arsenal recorded only one away clean sheet, but this time out, the Gunners began their season with a win on the road and kept a clean sheet. Arsenal fans had been hoping to see some of their newly arrived summer recruits. Instead they got treated to a lineup that consisted of youth, experience, and some not so popular players.

Arsenal were able to maintain composure and uncharacteristically held on to a narrow second-half lead to take all three points. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was on hand to score for Arsenal. This strike proved crucial as neither side could breach the goal before or after this strike.

Twitter had a gala time today as they watched Arsenal’s win with curiosity. The supporters would have been a happy bunch considering its been rather uncommon for their side to keep an away clean sheet. However, Twitter held discussions on a variety of points such as youth, their team, and most importantly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Here are some of the tweets from fans on the social media platform and what they had to say about Arsenal’s win over Newcastle United.

The three points, an away clean sheet and other important stuff aside, Twitter was keen to focus their attention on a certain Armenian attacker.

Right then, moving on from Mkhitaryan, there were some tweets on Arsenal’s teenage stars who made the cut to start the opening game. Considering them starting every week may not happen, but supporters did find plenty of positives from Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock’s performances.

Apart from those teenagers, there was another player everyone was keen to see on the pitch. Nicolas Pepe!

Too much optimism on the last tweet.

Twitter, however, did acknowledge Arsenal’s performance with a bit of wit. While most were impressed with Arsenal’s performance, especially in defence, no time was wasted in highlighting the away clean sheet that everyone has been talking about after the game. Additionally, there is a verdict on the MOTM from this game. Who is it?
