Moises Caicedo reacts to Chelsea interest

Moises Caicedo has been on the radar of some of the biggest English clubs over the last 6 to 7 months. The 21-year-old midfielder has been in sensational form of late and there is a lot of interest in his services. Meanwhile, Chelsea are the ones that have been pushing the hardest for the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder.

The Ecuador international has gone from strength to strength since joining the Seagulls back in the winter of 2021. And, in the last 12 months, he has been exceptional for both club and country.

His impressive performances attracted a lot of attention during the January transfer window. Arsenal were one of the clubs keen on having him and they even submitted multiple bids. However, Brighton were not ready to sell back then.

While the 21-year-old did sign a new contract with the Seagulls a few months back, he is still open to a move during the ongoing summer window. However, Brighton are in the driving seat and they will only sell him for a fee of £100 million.

Meanwhile, the Blues are desperate to have him in their ranks. Their new manager Mauricio Pochettino is a big admirer of the player and believes he could do wonders for them next season.

Chelsea have already offloaded quite a few players and have managed to balance things out in terms of finances. As a result, they do have the capacity to go big for the 21-year-old. And, they are planning to put forward their first bid in the coming days.

However, it will be interesting to see if they are ready to meet Brighton’s asking price of £100 million. Meanwhile, the player is well aware of the interest from Chelsea and during a conversation with Maria Jose Flores, he shared his thoughts regarding the interest.

Caicedo said to Jose Flores via 90min: “It’s a very great emotion,”

“What guy wouldn’t want them to be talking about him?

“I know how to handle it. I don’t get carried away by emotions. I’m enjoying time with my family for now. There is pressure, but I am calm. I am waiting for whatever God decides. He will know what is best for me.”

The player is proud to be linked with a club of that stature. However, he hasn’t made any comments regarding what he desires. With the Blues pushing harder with every passing day, there is a high possibility that they will strike a deal with Brighton before the window ends.
