Mikel Arteta has subtly suggested that Arsenal should actively pursue the services of Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe.

Mikel Arteta would love to have Kylian Mbappe in his ranks at Arsenal. The French international seems all set to part ways with Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season and the Spanish manager believes the Gunners should always be in conversation for the signatures of the best players.

Mbappe has decided to leave PSG

Mbappe’s future has been the talk of the town for a while now. The PSG forward has been linked with a move away from the club with his contract expiring at the end of the season. While there was an option to extend it by another 12 months, the French forward decided against it.

PSG were hoping that they could once again convince the World Cup winner to stay at the club having succeeded in doing so back in 2022. But, it seems they have failed because Mbappe has informed PSG that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

While he is yet to decide which club he ends up joining, his time at the French club will surely end in the summer. Multiple clubs have been linked with the 25-year-old who is considered to be amongst the best players in the world.

Arteta on Mbappe to Arsenal

Any club would love to have him in their ranks and Arteta feels a a club like Arsenal should always be in conversation for the signatures of such incredible players.

Areta said via The Guardian: “When there is a player of that calibre we always have to be in the conversation,”

“But … it looks to be in a different way.”

While he did acknowledge the fact that Real Madrid are the favourites for his signatures he still felt the Gunners need to have the best talent in their ranks to be the best team in Europe.

Real Madrid wanted to sign Mbappe back in 2022, they were close to his signatures but he ended up staying at PSG. Despite that disappointment, they have always remained interested and will try their best to land him at the club.

Arteta indirectly urged people at the north London club to make a push for the French international.

When asked if Arsenal were making moves for the Real Madrid target, Arteta said: “I am not! Maybe Edu [the sporting director] and the owners are, but I am not in those conversations until the last stage.”

“If we want to be the best team, we are going to need the best talent and the best players, that is for sure.

The Spanish manager made it clear that he would love to work with Mbappe and if there is an opportunity to land him at the club, the club should try according to their boss.
