Former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has been linked with a return to England, and Chelsea have been mentioned as a potential destination.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was recently quizzed about a potential move for Jordan Henderson. But the Argentine tactician has refused to name any potential targets, as quoted by 90min.

Pochettino said he would not be taking names of any player but would have a chat with the club hierarchy regarding potential transfer targets. He said (h/t 90min), “We didn’t talk about names. At the moment, we are not talking about players.”

“I saw Behdad [Eghbali], with Paul [Winstanley] and Laurence [Stewart]. I think we are going to have a chat tomorrow. We didn’t talk about names or players. For now, we are focusing on players like Andrey Santos.”

Chelsea have had a mediocre season by their standards, and they need to bring in quality players in order to finish the second half of the season strongly. Although Jordan Henderson has shown his quality in the Premier League in the past, he is in his twilight years and will be an underwhelming signing for Chelsea.

They should look to bring in younger players with more potential. In addition, Chelsea already have a number of quality midfielders at their disposal, and they should look to improve their attacking options instead. They need to bring in a reliable goalscorer who will score goals consistently. Nicolas Jackson has not been able to solve their problems, and the Blues must look to bring in an upgrade.

Meanwhile, Henderson is struggling on and off the pitch in Saudi Arabia. The former Liverpool captain wants a return to Europe, and it will be interesting to see if he can secure a move back to the Premier League.

There is no doubt that the 33-year-old would be a quality acquisition for most mid-table clubs in the Premier League, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up. Jordan Henderson has won every single trophy at club level during his time at Liverpool and quite a few clubs could use his  leadership quality, experience and versatility.
