Manchester United travelled to Goodison Park to face Everton, in search of a win to turn a recent run of draws in the Premier League.

The luck, however, didn’t change for the Red Devils as Everton held United to a 1-1 draw with a late penalty which was conceded by their former player Marouane Fellaini.

Chances came few and far between in an encounter of two sides that have experienced a dip in form since the start of October. Manchester United took the lead through Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the first half, from what was their first shot on target as the Swede cleared an onrushing Maarten Stekelenburg.

In the second half, Everton dominated proceedings but didn’t come close to scoring, bar a Kevin Mirallas chance that was brilliantly saved by Manchester United custodian David De Gea. As the match approached its end, it looked like United would somehow hold on to win.

Marouane Fellaini had other ideas though, as the Belgian tripped Idrissa Gueye in the Manchester United box to concede a late penalty. Leighton Baines duly converted to earn Everton a well-earned draw. And as expected, Fellaini came under fire from a large section of Manchester United fans. Here are the best tweets:

Fellaini, however, doesn’t seem to find support from the neutral either, who saw fit to crack a few jokes at his expense.
