Manchester United set to demand more than £40 million to sell Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood has been linked with a summer move away from Manchester United, who want to get rid of him.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United are looking to sell Mason Greenwood permanently in the summer transfer window, and they will demand over £40 million to part ways with him.

The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Spanish club Getafe, and he has been outstanding so far. The controversial homegrown attacker has been linked with a number of big clubs including Barcelona.

Greenwood does not have a future at Manchester United. But he seems to be a hot commodity in the transfer market right now, and it will be interesting to see if Manchester United can fetch over £40 million for him.

The 22-year-old attacker is capable of operating on either flank as well as a centre forward. The Englishman will add goals and creativity to the attack, and he is young enough to improve further. Although the £40 million-plus asking price might seem steep right now, he could easily justify the investment in the coming seasons.

Greenwood will look to join a club where he will get ample first-team action. He will look to sort out his long-term future and focus on his football. Going out on another loan spell will not be ideal for him. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can find a suitable destination for him.

Manchester United need to sign a quality attacker

Manchester United need to strengthen their attacking options as well. They have been overly dependent on Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford. So, the Red Devils need to bring in another striker who can share the goalscoring burden with the duo. In addition, they will need to improve in the wide areas.

Signing a reliable striker and a quality winger should be one of their priorities heading into the summer transfer window. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can plug the gaps in their squad and compete for major trophies next season.

Meanwhile, Greenwood remains a highly regarded prospect, and he will hope to play regularly and fulfil his tremendous potential in the coming seasons. It remains to be seen whether he can find a club competing at a high level this summer and finalise a permanent exit from Manchester United.
