Newcastle United and West Ham United could launch the offensive to sign AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham this summer.
According to a report from Give Me Sport, Newcastle United and West Ham United are keen on signing a striker in the summer transfer window. And AS Roma attacker Tammy Abraham could become a target for both Premier League clubs.
Dean Jones said to GMS, “Tammy Abraham is back in action and back in the goals. It would not surprise me to see him linked with a Premier League club or two soon.
“He is only 26, so I think there are European-chasing clubs that could consider him, as well as the tier below. I don’t see him being an answer to the striker problem at Manchester United or Chelsea, but Newcastle and West Ham are clubs where I could see there being some interest.
“He had a bad injury, but he will be desperate now to put that behind him, and we know he does have good instincts in the box and big-level experience that are hard to find.”
Tammy Abraham has been linked with a move away from AS Roma for quite some time, and it remains to be seen whether he is keen on a return to England at the end of the season. He has proven himself with Chelsea and Aston Villa in the Premier League, and the opportunity to return to England could be an exciting one for him.
The striker has not had ample game time at the Italian club of late and he needs to play more often at this stage of his career. While he was bang for the buck at £25 million, his participation has dwindled this season.
Romelu Lukaku is currently the first-choice striker at the Serie A club, and it would make sense for Abraham to move on and join a club where he will get regular game time. There is no doubt that he has the physical and technical attributes to do well for most Premier League clubs, and he could be a useful acquisition for Newcastle and West Ham.
Newcastle and West Ham need attacking reinforcements
Newcastle United need attacking reinforcements at the end of the season. They have been overly dependent on Alexander Isak this term. So, the Magpies must look to bring in a quality replacement for Callum Wilson during the summer transfer window. Abraham could be the ideal alternative to the English striker.
Meanwhile, Michail Antonio is in his twilight years, and he will need to be replaced adequately. The AS Roma striker could prove to be the ideal acquisition for West Ham. Both clubs have the financial muscle to get the deal done, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
