Liverpool told what they can expect from Andoni Iraola

Former Crystal Palace forward Clinton Morrison reveals what Liverpool fans can expect from Andoni Iraola’s Reds.

Just days after sacking Arne Slot, Liverpool have appointed Andoni Iraola as their new manager. The former Bournemouth manager will start his tenure at the Merseyside club on 1st July. He has penned a two-year deal with the Reds, and there is already a lot of excitement around the club to see what the Spanish tactician will bring to the table.

Popular pundit and former Crystal Palace star Clinton Morrison recently shared his thoughts on the appointment. During his chat with TEAMtalk, he gave an insight into what the fans should expect from the 43-year-old manager.

Morrison said, “If you watch his Bournemouth teams, the way they press, the high intensity and the way they go after teams, even with the players that he’s got at Bournemouth, he’s got some good ones, but he’s going to have even better players at Liverpool, and they’re going to strengthen in the summer. I think it’s a great appointment for Liverpool,”

“I know a lot of people are saying he’s never managed a big club like Liverpool, but he’s managed in the Premier League and taken a club like Bournemouth, with a capacity of 13,000, to finish sixth in the Premier League. So I think it’s a great appointment.”

“Definitely the football will be more entertaining. I’ve got loads of Liverpool fans, and they were screaming for Arne Slot to go ages ago…”

After making a name for himself at Bournemouth, Iraola took charge at Bournemouth in the summer of 2023. He has completely transformed the club and has helped them secure Europa League football for the first time in their history.

Not only has he delivered in terms of results, but under him, the Cherries played a very attacking and attractive brand of football. They pressed with high intensity and went after the big teams without any second thoughts.

Iraola to revive Liverpool

Despite losing the majority of his defensive stars last summer, Iraola managed to secure a sixth-place finish with the Cherries, which speaks volumes about his quality as a manager. While he hasn’t managed a club of Liverpool’s stature in the past, he has proven himself in the Premier League.

He will have a much stronger squad at his disposal at Liverpool, and that only increases the chances of him succeeding. Iraola is already making moves behind the scenes, helping Liverpool land some important transfer targets.

Under Arne Slot, Liverpool struggled to get the desired results, and on top of that, they were not playing the attacking brand of football they are known for. As a result, bringing in Iraola certainly seems to be the right move. Given his track record in the Premier League, the 47-year-old could mark an era at the club.
