Liverpool 1-1 Everton: Reds held to a draw through late Rooney penalty [Best Tweets]

Liverpool were left disgruntled in the Merseyside derby on Sunday as Everton held them to a 1-1 draw at Anfield through a controversial late penalty.

Mohamed Salah had given the hosts the lead with just three minutes left in the first half, bending the ball past Ashley Williams and Jordan Pickford from a tight angle. The Reds had several more opportunities to double their lead, but were unable to find the back of the net.

The inability to score cost Liverpool dearly in the end as Wayne Rooney scored from the spot after Craig Pawson gave a decision that left Jurgen Klopp seething. With the match ending all square, the referee came in for a lot of criticism.

But, Pawson wasn’t the only one copping flak, with several Liverpool fans blaming Lovren for his challenge on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

But, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for Liverpool fans as Mohamed Salah continued his golden run of form.
