Kai Havertz has made a cheeky comment saying he will be the biggest Tottenham fan when they face Manchester City on Tuesday.
As quoted by ESPN, Kai Havertz has cheekily suggested that he will be a Tottenham fan when the North London giants lock horns with Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday night. A winless result for the reigning champions will hand Arsenal the advantage in the title race.
Havertz said after Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday, “I am going to be the biggest fan of Tottenham ever. Let’s hope for the best.”
Mikel Arteta also spoke about the upcoming midweek fixture, saying, “My experience in this league is that any team can beat any team. I lived it various scenarios in the last day when a lot of teams have necessities. The margin of respect that everybody puts in the games is phenomenal.”
“We know we need a result [for Spurs against City]. We need to do our own thing still in the last game. But today, we wanted to open that box of dreams to live the last day of the season in front of our people with the opportunity to win the Premier League. That’s something we’re going to live together and I’m so pleased we’re going to do it with these players and staff.”
Kai Havertz has played his part in Arsenal taking the Premier League title race down to the wire. The German international, who arrived from Chelsea in a deal worth £65 million last summer, supplied the assist as the North London club beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed an excellent debut season with Arsenal after a slow start, amassing 12 goals and seven assists in 36 Premier League appearances. So, while sceptics and critics questioned the outlay of £65 million on him last summer, he has answered them with his displays on the pitch.
Meanwhile, Arsenal and Kai Havertz will hope Tottenham can take at least a point against Manchester City. A draw will leave the two title contenders level on points heading into the final day of the league campaign, with the Gunners having an advantage on goal difference. A Tottenham win will leave Arsenal with a one-point lead over Manchester City.
