Jamie O’Hara lambasts Manchester United decision to sell Marcus Rashford

Manchester United sanctioned the departure of Marcus Rashford to Aston Villa on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Former Premier League footballer Jamie O’Hara has now lambasted Manchester United for their decision to get rid of 27-year-old England international Marcus Rashford.

Speaking to Sky Sports, O’Hara iterated that the player could leave Manchester United and Ruben Amorim embarrassed with his performances at Aston Villa. He added that Manchester United are already struggling in the final third and that their forward line is Championship level.

Players like Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have not been at their best, and Manchester United could have used Marcus Rashford for the remainder of the season instead of agreeing to send him to Aston Villa.

“Marcus Rashford could embarrass Manchester United and Ruben Amorim. I don’t blame everything on Amorim, if he’s got a player there that doesn’t want to be involved and saying he wants to leave, what choice does he have?  I think Manchester United wanted him off the wage bill and I think he needed a fresh start.

“Let’s see what Rashford does but let me tell you that Man United are in disarray, their forward line is Championship level and nowhere near good enough. Zirkzee should not have a United shirt on, Amad’s been the only bright spark, Garnacho has been poor and Hojlund doesn’t look like he can hit a barn door. So for me, they have let their best striker go. If Aston Villa get the best out of him, Man United could be left with egg on their face.”

Rashford will look to get back to his best

Marcus Rashford has not been at his best, but he is a proven performer in the Premier League. It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa can get the best out of him. The 27-year-old is versatile enough to operate anywhere across the front three and he could be an asset for Aston Villa if they manage to bring out the best in him.

The England international will be desperate to get his career back on track, and he will look to prove his quality at Aston Villa now. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United are left regretting their decision to let him leave.

The Red Devils have endured a disappointing season, and they are unlikely to secure Champions League qualification for the next season. Manchester United needed to add to their squad during the winter window, but they have not managed to do so. In addition, they have weakened their attack by allowing Rashford and Antony to leave the club.
