Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech has been tipped to excel at London rivals Tottenham Hotspur by Rafael van der Vaart.
According to former Tottenham attacker Rafael Van Der Vaart, Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech should join Antonio Conte’s side and help them win the Premier League title.
“Hakim Ziyech has to join Tottenham,” he said on Ziggo Sport (h/t Express). “If Tottenham get Hakim Ziyech, they could win the Premier League. I am serious.”
Tottenham have an excellent squad, and Conte has improved them significantly. The Italian tactician was keen on signing an attacking midfielder during the summer transfer window and links with Nicolo Zaniolo and Christian Eriksen surfaced back then.
However, AS Roma refused to sell the Italian playmaker, and Eriksen ended up joining Manchester United. Tottenham are now left with a midfield bereft of creativity and flair. Ziyech can add a new dimension to their midfield with his passing ability, flair and vision. He is a threat from set-pieces as well. The Chelsea playmaker needs a fresh start, and the move could benefit all parties.
The 29-year-old has not been able to express himself at Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea should look to cash in on him, as they did in the summer, and reinvest the money into their playing squad. It will be interesting to see whether they are willing to sell him to a direct rival like Tottenham.
Chelsea will know all about Conte and his ability to improve players. The Tottenham boss could help Ziyech get back to his best. The former Ajax plamaker was one of the best creators in Europe before his move to Chelsea and could be lethal if deployed behind Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
Ziyech’s ability to break down deep defences and execute the final pass makes him an asset for any side with quality strikers. Tottenham could certainly try their luck and make a move for the player when the transfer window reopens in January.
Given his standing at Chelsea, they might be able to lure him away from Stamford Bridge for a knockdown price as well. Singing a player like Ziyech in January could give Tottenham a huge boost midway through the season and help them finish on a high.
Conte will look to end Tottenham’s trophy drought after an impressive start to their Premier League campaign this year. But amid interest from Ajax and AC Milan, Tottenham might be at a disadvantage in their bid to land the Chelsea playmaker.
