Don Hutchison has drawn comparison to Kevin De Bruyne while heaping praise on Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard.
Martin Odegaard has grown in stature with every passing season, and he is now an indispensable asset for the club. The Norwegian international has been one of the first names on the team sheet under Mikel Arteta, and he is also the club captain now.
Odegaard helped Arsenal challenge for the league title last season, and he had a phenomenal campaign on an individual level as well. The 24-year-old managed to score 15 goals in the league while picking up 8 assists along the way. He has seemed in good form this season as well.
Popular pundit and former Premier League player Don Hutchison has now heaped praise on the Arsenal captain. Hutchison revealed that the Arsenal midfielder is an amazing player and he reminds the pundit of the Manchester City match fielder Kevin De Bruyne.
He said via Optus Sport, “Amazing player. He reminds me of Kevin De Bruyne in how influential he is on the pitch and how good he is on the ball. Never really panics. Always seems to make the right decisions. He gets in good areas. I think he is the one, when you talk about Erling Haaland, De Bruyne or Rodri, who make Man City tick, then I think Bukayo Saka and even more so, this man, Odegaard, he is the top man.”
“He’s not particularly vocal, but he does it by his actions. When they are losing games. He then says, ‘give me the ball. I still want it. I will still take it in tight areas.’ He’s 24 and to be captain of Arsenal. What a position to be in. Unbelievable player.”
Hutchison also hailed Odegaard’s ability to pick the right pass under pressure and stay composed in decisive situations. The Norwegian is still only 24 and he is likely to improve further with coaching and experience. He could develop into a top-class player for Arsenal in the coming seasons.
The Norwegian is now one of the key members of the Arsenal dressing room and the Gunners will be hoping that he can continue his impressive run of form and help them compete for major trophies this season.
There is no doubt that the 24-year-old is one of the best midfielders in the league right now and he is certainly one of the best players at the club as well.
