Chelsea ran out 2-1 winners over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, with goals from Pedro and Victor Moses condemning Mauricio Pochettino’s side to their first loss in the Premier League this season.
Tottenham started last night’s game at Stamford Bridge brightly as they took an early lead through Christian Eriksen’s stunning strike. Chelsea, however, showed why Antonio Conte’s men are a bunch to be feared right now, as they mounted a stirring comeback to roar back to the top of the Premier League table.
Having conceded for the first time in over 600 minutes in the league, Chelsea slowly started getting a foothold in the match even as Spurs continued to create their chances. And as half-time approached, the Blues’ comeback was on thanks to Pedro’s individual brilliance as the Spaniard curled a wonderful effort into the top corner to level things up.
At the start of the second half, Chelsea came out firing off the block as Pedro, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa drove forward in search of their side’s second goal. That goal, though, came in the form of Chelsea’s renaissance man Victor Moses, as the Nigerian latched on to Costa’s inviting pass to give his side the lead.
Beyond that moment, Chelsea closed the gates in a solid display to put any thoughts of Tottenham’s continued unbeaten run to bed. Here are the best tweets following a fiercely competitive game at Stamford Bridge:
