Bernardo Silva urges Joao Neves to join Manchester City

Bernardo Silva has urged Benfica sensation Joao Neves to join Manchester City amidst interest from Manchester United.

Joao Neves’s exceptional rise at Benfica has resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe. While the teenage sensation is busy gearing up for Euro 2024 with the Portugal national team, his future has become one of the biggest talking points.

Manchester United are one of the clubs that have been monitoring him for a long while. The Red Devils seem keen on having the 19-year-old in their squad. But, his national teammate Bernardo Silva wants the teenager to snub United for rivals Manchester City.

Silva wants Neves to join Manchester City

Silva is keen on playing alongside him at City and while talking about his future, he said to the reporters via Goal: “I told him to go to Manchester City,”

“It’s not easy. He’s a player who, due to the success he had last season, has many clubs that want him. As a Portuguese and being a player I appreciate him, I would like to see him by my side. But I want the best for him. I don’t need to convince him. Joao Neves is already convincing with the way he works, with the energy he brings to the game. It will be easy for many clubs to enter the race. Let him make his decision, let it be the best for him. If he continues with this energy, he has a very good future ahead of him.”

Pep Guardiola’s City have been a dominant force in world football in recent years. While they already have a star-studded squad, the Manchester-based club are always on the lookout for opportunities to further bolster their team.

Neves could be an exceptional signing for them, he can cover for Rodri and surely has the potential to be an integral part of their first team for years to come. While Silva wants the teenager to join City, he has acknowledged the fact that there is no shortage of interest in him.

Manchester United have been closely following his progress at Benfica. They are very impressed with his impressive rise and believe he could play an important role in their revival. He could form a dependable partnership in the midfield with Kobbie Mainoo.

Reports suggest that the Red Devils would be willing to fork out a significant fee to have him at their disposal. While United are working hard on a deal, City’s arrival could complicate things.

Apart from the giants from Manchester, there are other top clubs keen on his signature. As a result, the teenager surely has a decision to make. But, he will be focusing on that after the end of Euro 2024.
