Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.
Santiago Gimenez has been a key player for Feyenoord, helping them win the Eredivisie title last season. Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur have now been told that they might have to shell out close to €50 million in order to sign the striker.
Gimenez is reportedly valued at around €40-50 million, and it will be interesting to see if Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham are willing to pay that kind of money for him.
Feyenoord watcher Martijn Krabbendam said via Voetbal4u, “I wouldn’t say twenty million euros. That’s heading towards 40, 50. There was already a lot of interest in him last summer. They are trying to make him Feyenoord’s record transfer.”
The 22-year-old has clearly proven his quality in the Eredivisie, and he is certainly good enough to make his mark in the Premier League as well. Arsenal could certainly use more quality and depth in the attack. They need to bring in someone who can share the goal-scoring burden with Gabriel Jesus and Gimenez certainly fits the profile.
The 22-year-old Argentine striker is still quite young and is likely to improve with coaching and experience. He managed to score 23 goals across all competitions last season and could be a key player for the Gunners in the coming seasons as well.
Meanwhile, Chelsea need to add more cutting edge in the final third and have set their sights on Gimenez. They signed Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal, but the Senegalese striker needs more help and support from his teammates. Gimenez could thus be the ideal partner for him.
At Tottenham, he could be the long-term replacement for Harry Kane who joined Bayern Munich at the start of the season. All three clubs could use the 22-year-old and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
Although the reported €50 million asking price is a premium, Gimenez could justify the investment in the long run. He could prove to be a key player for them. The opportunity to move to clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham will be an attractive option for the player, and it would be a major step up in his career as well.
It will be interesting to see which of the three clubs decide to come forward with a concrete proposal to sign him in the coming months.
