Arsenal are off to a losing start to their first Premier League campaign under Unai Emery, as Manchester City eased to a 2-0 win at Emirates on Sunday.
Raheem Sterling was a surprise starter for the Premier League champions, having only returned to training on Monday. But, the much maligned English international gave Manchester City the lead over Arsenal with a fantastic long-range curling effort.
Thereafter, City were in total control of the match, with Arsenal largely being restricted to half chances. The win was then sealed for the champions when Bernardo Silva scored Benjamin Mendy’s cut-back.
Arsenal fans though, were out in hordes talking about the misery continuing despite a new era being ushered in. Some trolls also took their fair share of potshots at the North Londoners after the losing start to their Premier League campaign.

FT: Arsenal 0-2 Man City.
THE TRUTHS;
– How can anyone not see the importance of Wingers?
– Ozil & Mhki should move to J-League
– Cech still poor
– Aubameyang = Ghost
– Guendouzi too young for this
– Xhaka is very useless
– Same old ArsenalEmery is the Spanish for Wenger!

Misplaced passes. No team chemistry. No communication. Weak attack. Sloppy players. Xhaka. Mustafi. Same old Arsenal #AFC

But, the Arsenal boss had his fair share of sympathisers as well, with many prepared to give him time to implement his methods.
It will take months to get this team playing the Emery way.
Pep took a year to get it right with considerably more funds, so we’ll have to be patient.
Onwards and upwards hopefully.

45 minutes into the Emery era and you can see a plan, an idea of how this is supposed to work. Worth remembering they’re facing one of Europe’s top sides, playing at a very high level. City are better, that shouldn’t be in doubt. But Arsenal are going about things the right way.

Shocked and disappointed Emery hasn’t made the 6th best team better than the best team in the country in his first game.

A not unexpected result. City are miles ahead of us right now, and today is an illustration of just how much work Unai Emery has got ahead of him in this job.

Tough job for Unai Emery. As we saw post Sir Alex at Manchester United, when a coach has been as dominant at a club for so long it’s difficult to impose a different style/mentality. Takes time, which is something coaches are rarely given these days.

I wish Unai Emery super well. Can he have an exceptional season? I believe yes. Will he win the double in his first season, like I did? I don’t know.

Wenger was criticised for keeping Welbeck, Iwobi and Cech
Emery comes in, keeps Welbeck, extends Iwobi and makes Cech starter and captain. Can people on here admit they don’t know what they’re talking about ?

One player that bore the brunt of Arsenal fans’ displeasure was Petr Cech, the skipper for the day, after a mixed performance against Manchester City.
Cech keeps putting Guendouzi under real pressure. It’s child abuse.
