Vitor Roque’s agent has confirmed widespread interest from Premier League clubs, including Everton’s, ahead of the January transfer window.
Vitor Roque seems to be ready for another adventure in Europe after the initial one failed when he made a high-profile move to Barcelona. Without ever settling at the Catalan club, he did give another try with a loan at Real Betis, which did not work out either.
In the end, the young Brazilian striker returned to his homeland as Palmeiras signed him, and he has been prolific since then. This season, Roque has 12 goal involvements for Palmeiras across all competitions, and is destined to finish the campaign with better numbers.
His revitalised form and the banishment of his time from the first stint in Europe have not deterred some of his English suitors, with a host of teams already keen. Among those have been Manchester United and Chelsea, and the idea of signing for either of those prestigious sides will pique the interest of the Brazilian striker.
Both Chelsea and Manchester United are constantly looking for additions that will improve their side, with the Blues particularly strong with their network in South America. Roque could be viewed as a solid competitor for the No.9 position to compete with compatriot Joao Pedro. Palmeiras are reportedly seeking at least €50 million, which might feel like an attractive sum.
The same could be said about Manchester United, who are also in the market for a new striker that would add depth and competition for places amid fitness issues plaguing Benjamin Sesko. Whether either of those sides are ready to make the move for Roque remains the question, with Everton also thought to be keen on the striker.
Agent confirms Roque interest amid Everton links
Andre Cury, the agent who represents Vitor Roque, has confirmed the widespread interest from English clubs through his comments on Bolavip, with Everton thought to be one of those eagerly pushing for the striker’s signing ahead of the January window.
Cury said, “There are many clubs in Europe interested in Vitor.”
While those words barely explain anything with regard to how advanced the interest from clubs is, the idea that Everton are in the mix makes a lot of sense. The Toffees are in the market for a new striker to ease the load placed on Thierno Barry, with the Frenchman the only recognised frontman in the side at the moment.
There are a variety of names being linked with Everton ahead of the January transfer window, with David Moyes intent on adding a new striker. The idea of signing Roque might feel a bit different from some of the European names linked with the Toffees, especially due to the Brazilian’s mixed time during his stint with Barcelona.
The €50 million valuation might also have a bearing on their thinking, although, should they succeed in signing the Brazilian, he could be a solid investment for the long term. Only time will tell whether the Toffees are seriously considering a move, amid rival interest from Manchester United and Chelsea, who will be alert to the prospect of competing for the striker.
