Ivan Toney has been linked with a move away from Brentford in recent months, and Alan Pardew has tipped him to join Arsenal.
Ivan Toney is expected to move on from Brentford during the January transfer window. And former Premier League manager Alan Pardew believes that the £100 million-rated striker, also a target for Tottenham, will end up at Arsenal.
The player has been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham in recent weeks, and the Gunners would do well to secure his services. Arsenal could certainly use a quality striker during the second half of the campaign, and the 27-year-old would be a superb signing.
“Toney is for me the signing (the big clubs should try to make) in January. He is the one. Whoever gets him, I think, will be really fortunate. I think he will end up at Arsenal, actually.” Pardew said on talkSPORT (12 November, 6pm).
Toney is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League, and he could improve Arsenal going forward. The Brentford striker could form a quality partnership with Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian has been a quality signing for Arsenal, but he is not a prolific goalscorer. His overall footballing ability remains outstanding, and starting him alongside Toney would give Arsenal a formidable attacking unit.
The opportunity to play for a big club like Arsenal will be a tempting proposition for the player as well. Toney wants to join a big club capable of winning trophies, and a move to Arsenal would be ideal for him.
The Gunners challenged for the league title last season, and they are expected to be in the conversation this season as well. Bringing in the right additions in January could help the match up Manchester City. Meanwhile, Tottenham are keeping tabs on the striker’s situation as well.
They need someone to replace the goalscoring output of Harry Kane, and Toney certainly fits the profile. They were expecting Richarlison to step up in the absence of Kane. But the Brazilian has been quite poor so far and he is sidelined with an injury.

Signing a goal scorer in January should be a top priority for Tottenham and it will be interesting to see if they can beat their North London rivals to his signature. A move to Arsenal would allow the striker to compete in the UEFA Champions League this season and that could give the Gunners an edge in the race.
