Lack of game time at Real Madrid could push Arda Guler to explore opportunities elsewhere, and he won’t be short of suitors.
Arda Guler was already the talk of the town during his time at Fenerbahce. He was considered one of the best young talents in the world. As a result, multiple top clubs from across Europe wanted to acquire his services.
In the end, Real Madrid won the race as they forked out around €20 million to sign the Turkish gem. Unfortunately, the move to the Spanish giants has not really gone according to plan for Guler.
Injuries kept him on the sidelines for the majority of his debut season. While he did finish the 2023/24 season on a high, the 20-year-old has found it very difficult to get regular game time under Carlo Ancelotti this season.
The Turk has been involved in 30 games, but he has racked up just over 1,000 minutes of first-team action, which is not helping his growth as a player. While he has not had the best of starts, people at the club still believe he has what it takes to be a Real Madrid star.
They want him around for as long as possible, but Guler might have a massive decision to make, as the lack of minutes is hampering his growth as a player. Should he decide to move on, these five clubs could be ideal destinations for the Turkish international.
Inter Milan
Simone Inzaghi has done wonders at Inter Milan. He helped them clinch the Serie A title last season, and as things stand, the Nerazzurri could end up defending their title. While all things seem to be going in the right direction for the Italian giants, Inzaghi has identified a few key areas that need reinforcement.
Inzaghi wants to add more creativity to the final third. Former Real Madrid star Nico Paz is among their top targets, but Inter Milan also have their eyes on Arda Guler. Inter have already made the first moves to bring the Turkish superstar to Milan.
The Nerazzurri have reportedly already held talks with the player’s agent regarding a move this summer. Inter have wanted to learn more about a potential transfer, and reports suggest the player is ready to try his luck elsewhere after failing to get an extended run under Ancelotti.
Manchester United
Arda Guler could be an exceptional signing for Ruben Amorim’s team. Not only can he be a long-term replacement for Bruno Fernandes, who is already 30, but the 20-year-old could easily slot into their 3-4-3 formation where two attacking midfielders start behind the lone forward.
Not only can the Real Madrid start be an important source of creativity from the middle, but he can even feature on the flanks when needed. With Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho expected to be on the move, Amorim would certainly want more quality out wide, and Guler could help his cause.
The Red Devils wanted to sign him even before he made the move to Spain, and they are all set to reignite their interest if he is made available. Manchester United have already enquired about his availability, as they do not want to miss out on him. If he is available for the right price, the Premier League giants will certainly try their luck.
Liverpool
Even Liverpool had a big interest in signing Arda Guler before he made the move to Real Madrid. While the Reds do not really need an out-and-out no. 10, they won’t mind having someone like the Turkish international in their squad as he can feature as a ten, a right-winger as well as in a deeper role in midfield.
The Merseyside outfit want to prepare for life without Mohamed Salah, and Guler can certainly help replace the Egyptian superstar in the long run. With Salah’s contract running out, the 20-year-old could become a regular from the start.
Even if Salah does pen an extension, with Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez’s futures uncertain, Guler could still get enough minutes at Anfield. The Reds have already knocked on the doors of the Spanish giants, and they are waiting for the perfect opportunity to make a move.
Borussia Dortmund
Inter Milan, Liverpool, and Manchester United would prefer a permanent transfer, but Borussia Dortmund could offer a loan opportunity to Guler. Not much has been said about the Bundesliga club’s interest in the 20-year-old, but they are certainly in the mix.
The Black and Yellows are always on the lookout for players to further bolster their ranks, and a versatile star like Guler can certainly help their cause. The German giants have a strong relationship with Real Madrid, and they have often signed players from the Spanish giants.
Their strong relationship could pave the way for a loan move if Los Blancos deem it the best option for both the player and the club. Borussia Dortmund will struggle to keep hold of most of their stars if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, and they might actually look at the loan market to cope with that loss.
Real Sociedad
If Real Madrid opt for a loan move, they will likely prefer a La Liga club to help Guler adapt further to the Spanish top flight. Real Sociedad, who want to reinforce their attack ahead of next season, have already expressed their interest in signing the Turkish international.
They have knocked on Real Madrid’s door as they look to sign him on a temporary basis ahead of next season. With Takefusa Kubo’s long-term future uncertain, Guler could be just the perfect signing for Sociedad. Even if they manage to keep hold of Kubo, Guler could still be a great addition to their first-team squad at Reale Arena.
