West Ham United make move to land Rob Edwards

West Ham United may turn to 43-year-old English tactician Rob Edwards if they decide to part ways with Nuno Espirito Santo.

According to a report by Wayne Veysey on Football Insider, Rob Edwards is also the subject of interest from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are scouring the managerial market amid uncertainties surrounding Pierre Sage, and they have their sights set on the 43-year-old tactician.

Per Wayne Veysey, Edwards has recently turned down an approach from Burnley, who have sacked Nicky Hayen after a dreadful start to the 2026/27 season and fallen into the relegation zone. However, that has not deterred West Ham, with the East London club holding preliminary talks for a deal.

Rob Edwards and his career so far

Rob Edwards has established himself as one of the best young managers in his country despite overseeing two campaigns that have ended in relegation from the Premier League. The 43-year-old rose in prominence during his stint with Luton Town, guiding them to the top flight in a Cinderella Story.

However, the Hatters were relegated from the Premier League in their first season, and Edwards then failed to guide Wolverhampton Wanderers last term. Nevertheless, the English tactician’s stock remains high, with West Ham United and Crystal Palace among the prospective suitors vying for his signature.

London calling?

Crystal Palace’s interest in Rob Edwards is understandable. The Eagles are considering their options, as a slow start to the season has left them with the worst defensive record in the Premier League and only seven points to be 17th in the standings. With Pierre Sage and his side receiving jeers from the fans after the defeat to Newcastle United this past weekend, the pressure is growing on the French tactician.

As for West Ham United, the Hammers have fallen to third on the EFL Championship table after suffering a defeat to Southampton at home this past weekend. With the East London club struggling for consistency despite being in the promotion battle, Nuno Espirito Santo’s future remains uncertain.

Edwards, despite suffering relegation twice, has considerable experience to provide stability to Crystal Palace. On the other hand, the Englishman has experience of masterminding a promotion campaign with a team with fewer resources than West Ham, thus making him a credible option for the Hammers.
