Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could end up making the move to Major League Soccer in the near future.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Erik ten Hag could end up leaving Europe as there is a significant amount of interest in his services from the Major League Soccer. The Dutch manager hasn’t made a decision on his future yet while talks with clubs in the United States of America continue.
Ten Hag made quite a name for himself during his time at Ajax. He led them to numerous domestic titles and even guided them to the Champions League final. His heroics had put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs. In the end, Manchester United appointed him as their boss in the summer of 2022.
The 55-year-old had an impressive debut campaign but things have only gone downhill for him since. While they did win the FA Cup last season, their overall form was a massive concern. United held talks about his future before the start of the new campaign. Eventually, they decided to back him and handed him a new deal.
But, the decision backfired as they ended up sacking him in October after a horror start to the new campaign. The Dutch manager has been unemployed since parting ways with United and he has been on the lookout for his next role.
Ten Hag could end up moving to the US
While things didn’t go according to plan for him at Old Trafford, there is still no shortage of interest in Ten Hag because of what he did with Ajax back in the day. Apart from clubs in Europe, there are clubs in America that are after his signature.
Multiple MLS clubs have registered interest in the 55-year-old and have already started holding talks with him to explore the possibility of him leaving Europe. While the new MLS season gets underway in just over a week’s time, there are quite a few clubs that are still looking to add more quality to their coaching staff.
Ten Hag is quite high on their wishlist and they are pushing hard to convince him. While MLS clubs continue to hold talks, the former Ajax boss is yet to make a decision but it is certainly one to keep an eye on.
